Internships and Coops |
We have a very strong internship program with several universities, including Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg (Virginia Tech) and University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP). This continues a long tradition we have had since we were part of COMSAT Laboratories and Lockheed Martin.
Each year we pick some of the best and brightest students, and provide them an excellent work environment - fast computers, a comfortable work environment, and a fully stocked kitchen in our high-tech offices in Reston. They work in peer groups with other interns and coops, and alongside our senior developers. The work is challenging and very fast-paced, and the interns and coops learn core skills in software development, debugging, and team-work. Almost all the interns and coops end the program as top-notch programmers, and some of our best software developers are past coops and interns. Our main development platforms are Windows, Visual Studio .NET, C# and C++ for client-side development, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and Oracle for database development, and IIS, C#.NET, AJAX, XML, and RoR (Ruby-on-Rails) for web development. We generally seek Computer Science and Computer Engineering majors, but often make exceptions for bright students from all disciplines. If you are in the top 20% of your class, and have a strong interest in computer programming, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving, please submit your resume to jobs@optimalsatcom.com. |
